What's up, people.

I just got my Rocktron Banshee Talkbox which is like the coolest thing ever but anyway:). I've heard that it's important to clean the tube regularly to prevent build up of nasty things inside it and to maintain the quality of the sound. I'm wondering: do you guys know what I can use to do this?

Thankful for help.

Peace

You guys are serious or?

Because that last post by rayc seems sarcastic:

"REALLY, really hot water."

No sarcasm from me, dude.
Boiling water kills bugs. Grade 5 science.
Just be really careful of your hands because it also kills skin cells ;)

I don't own one of these talkboxes, so I'm not certain of the durability of the plastic when exposed to boiling water, but it will be better on your body to use this rather than some highly toxic chemical that you'll later be putting in your mouth.

Seems like you could also use one of those foaming disinfectant soaps like Purell and then rinse it really good to get all the soap out.

I'm not real familiar with how these things are constructed either, but if it were me, I'd use mouthwash in the tube. That shit is a pretty strong disinfectant and it won't give you the shits if you don't get it all off of the tube. Soap will.

Good idea, ez_willis!!
Only problem might be that the mouthwash might not work for removing any mould/grime that tends to grow in damp environments. It will definitely help destroy bacteria though.
So maybe a combination of boiling water and regular mouthwash rinses would do the trick.

Good point;)

Yeah, that sounds good.

Yo guys, thanks for the tips:)

Sorry but I need to resurrect this thread:)

I thought I understood how to go about the cleaning when you guys answered but now when I actually need to clean the tube I'm a bit puzzled...

How should I do it?

I'm getting ready to do that exact thing with mine.
I think I'll put it in a shallow bowl and let it soak in a antibacterial soap for a while and then rinse it really good ....... maybe even run some alcohol thru it.

ya you can let it soak but to be more discriptive of how I usually clean mine is I put a little dish wassing liquid in the tube then fill it most of the way up with water with my thumb over one end,

once the tube is full, with one end of the tube in each hand I cap the ends off with my thumb's, then I raise one hand and lower the other simontaneously back and forth for a few minuites, this swishes the soapy water around.
After a couple of minuites I just drain the soapy water then run fresh water thru the tube to make sure all of the soap is rinced out, then I take the tube out side and sling it around over my head to get the remaining water out of the tube.
works great for me:cool:
