This came down rather suddenly over the weekend (like SARS).

A little preview for those who have to invest on the download:
This is just meant to be a simple slow recording. No crazed Russians or Japanese jumping out at you, no blasting guitars. I'd like to think it turned out sweet with a nice floaty ride to the end, but maybe you'll think it's akin to something that should be coming out of a crankbox with a small red vested monkey in attendance. Who knows.

Only Good

Hey KH

Hmmmmmmmmmm - let's see.
1. Nice vocals, but a bit heavy on the reverb, unless that was the sound you were looking for. It doesn't sound like the vocal needed that much "help" or cover up to sound good.
2. The canned drums are really boring after a while. Throw in some different turn arounds, lead ins, etc at the end of some of the phrases.
3. The tune is not bad, but needs a bridge to keep from being too repetitive.
4. Liked the dual guitar leads, but they tended to fight each other in a couple of spots.

Pretty good effort

There is something really...really wrong with this mix. The bass is all crackley and fizzley.

I couldn't even get halfway, the song sounds nice but the sound is really fucked on my system.

WTF?!

huh? wait I don't understand..

Does that mean I mixed too much bass, or is it just not responding right in your system? Like it would sound ok if i brought it down?

Has anyone else noticed this?

It is all...well you heard.

I don't know why, it's the only one.

Did you check the mp3?

Personally, I love the sound of the bass and it holds its own on my monitors. Sounds like a McCartney Hofner!

As for the vocals, that flooded reverb gets to me. It would be a nice "effect" for some background vocals, but not on the whole thing. i'd make the ah's drip with the verb, but leave the lyrical portion dryer--conrast the two. Just an idea.

Love the guitar solo. I mean--really love it--the two intertwining parts are cool. This is the kind of stuff guitar players live to play!

This gets a Crawdad two claws up if you adjust those vocals! :D

this is a good song.. the bass sounds o.k. on my speakers but seems a bit 'too bassy' at times.. I wasn't crazy about the techno sounding drums but I got used to them.. crawdad gave some good suggestions regarding the verb.. good song!

--edit-- actually I am starting to hear some problems with the bass later into the song.. too bassy and starting to crackle a bit.. roll of some lows of the bass maybe.. It may be too much as is..

I thought it was a pretty decent sound. I thought the bass sounded good. Like B.SABBATH, I heard some crackling later on in the song - first heard at 2:38. I'm not sure they're on the bass track though. Real big crackles at 2:53 and later on. I'd say it's more likely clipping than anything else.

But I'd say I like the bass tone. I liked most of the guitar tones. Didn't love them, but liked them. Some of the doubling on them needs to be tightened up a bit.

The doubled vocals need to be tightened up considerably. They were pretty loose in the early parts of the song. It's a good vocal sound otherwise. Maybe a "smaller" reverb with a little dryer mix? Just a suggestion.

I didn't care for the kick drum sound. Sounded techno to me, you need a "warmer" sound for this song.

My thoughts..
