So I'm in the market for a semi-hollow body, and I come across this guitar on used.guitarcenter.com ...needless to say, I'm quite intrigued. However, I've never even heard of New York Pro. After a little bit of research, all I could find was that they're a cheap Fender/Gibson copy company, but In the reviews and model lists I've found I couldn't find this hollow body.

Any input on NYP or that guitar in general?

Its one of those kind of "fake" brands..a knock off brands of the most extreme degree. Like, silvertone, i guess samick to some degree...my fried has an accoustic new york pro. Its fine if your a beginner.

So you think that guitar will probably look better than it sounds?

I played one of their 335 copies and a couple of other copies. I own a 335 Gibson and I found the copy to be a pretty decent guitar. The only main difference actually was about two thousand two hundred dollars.

Well...it depends. I liked my friends new york pro, and for like 65 bucks it was a pretty decent guitar..beating out my old junkie yamaha. Its nothing in comparison to higher up guitars..but thats just already known..just gotta try them out.

So you found it to be pretty similar then?

for the price I thought it was a decent guitar. Check out the Eastwoods though.
I just bought one of their Mosrite clones and was quite surprised by the quality.
I was impressed enough that I intend to buy the Savanah model.

there 335 style guitar goes for 449.00. I dont remember what the NYP was selling for.

Actually someone I know on another forum suggested Eastwood, too, but I don't have to budget for it. $250 is really my max unfortunately.

If you're in that under $250 price range, maybe give Agile guitars from Rondo Music a look as well.
