What can I put here?

I got a tascam m3500 (love those dual faders).....enought bells and whistles but I have big blank on the right side. It's about 9.5" X 12" and about 3" deep.
Any sugestions on what I should shove in there.....I've been trying to find a small computer monitor and clone my computer screen but can't find anything small.

Suggestions....besides a small beer cooler?

I was temted to include the words "lava" and "lamp" in my answer, but I won't (big fan of 'em myself :cool: :cool: )

Maybe a patch bay ? Or use the space to put session notes ?
I don't know the dimensions to the RNC and RNP, mabye they'll fit in (if you have/want them)...

The remote for your Lexicon 960L :D ? a midi controller ?

Too bad an oscilloscope wouldn't fit there. It'd be handy for looking at phase not to mention how impressed people would be watching it trace with audio going through it.
 
My wr-t820b has a similar space and I have my drum machine sitting in that spot. I used to have my remote there for the recorder but the cable for it kept pushing it onto a switch. anything tallet than that blocks my VU meters on the 2 buss.

I appreciate the ideas......I wish I had a lexicon ......I have been using it as my mouse pad but I've recently reorganized and I was hoping to put something somewhat flush in there ..... does anybody know a place where i could get small possible lcd video monitor. surprisingly I can't find any on internet...I do have a video out on video card so Maybe i should find a small security monitor.
 
You can get 5" lcd's on ebay for about $100 to $150.

Hmmm new idea: find as many knobs, faders, leds and stuff, solder them on a grey piece of metal and put it in, it'll make your board look $10,000 more expensive :cool:

If you want to fit an LCD in there, it has to be mounted with an angle, otherwise you can't see nothing on it. Is there enough space for that ? (anyone a lava lamp screensaver ? :o :o )

Have you looked under there? Is it blank, or does it have guts 'n innards in that area. I've never been inside a Tascam.
 
that space normally has the automation controls for the 3700 series.

there's no real guts under there just stray wires that can be easily repositioned if needed. I think I have decided on trying to get an LCD screen and have a new blank panel made to accomadate it at a 45 dg angle.

RNC is 14cm square, by a bit under 1U (44mm) tall, from memory

Do you know what tascam originally intended to put there? Adding automation would be cool.

I would love to add automation but for the price it would cost to track necessary eqpt down and have it installed I could buy a board already automated.....I'll probably just keep this one since it did cost me about 500 bones to ship it to hawaii.....only good thing about living on this island (besides perfect weather) is there is a lack of medium sized boards and I already have a few folks drooling to buy this off me if I ever do sale.......I'm pretty sure I'm slapping an LCD screen in there once I find one.
