what can I plug in a trigger in?

I have a Midi Kitti Pro trigger. What can you plug in a trigger in besides a trigger?
Can you put a mic on it?
If I want to trigger a sample from a kick track: can I plug the line out from my recorder to the trigger input, or will I blow the input?
If I can't do that, what do I have to do, mic a speaker playing the track?

Do you mean you have a Trigger Module or the actual trigger itself? If you have the module you can make your own cheap little triggers buy buying stuff at radioshack. I'm not sure exactly how to do it, but my friend did it once. I'm sure theres someone here that can tell you how to do it. I think you can make one for under 3 bucks, but be warned, although they work fine, they aren't too durable.

Get the piezo-electric speaker elements from Radio Shack. I haven't bought them in forever but they're about 1" diameter and have wires (red & black) connected to them. Last time I got some they had a plastic housing which had to be removed. Solder a wire (I used 22 ga twisted pair) to the ones coming from the piezo element. Put the required connector on the other end.

I used these as triggers for an Alesis D-4 drum module back when I was in college. Works fine, but the dynamics are a little funky and you'll probably have to adjust things in the brain.

How you house them is up to you. I know of a few guys who used practice pads by slitting the "head", putting the triggers inside, and taping things back up. I made my own using lexan plates, an 8" speaker grill (a 2-piece from RS and I only used the outer ring part), and a mouse pad.
