I'm just learning about recording with my computer. I've played around with Gold Wave editor and Multiquence for recording tracks. Been using the computer mic that came with my Dell. I've actually gotten where I could lay down some guitar rythym tracks, lead tracks, and vocals and then play around with the editor. Even learned how to convert to an mp3 file!

Anyway, after reading some of the posts on these boards, it sounds like recording with the pc mic is total crap! Actually I was kind of impressed with it.. I guess I am still in awe of it all.

Well, my cousin just gave me a bunch of his left over recording equipment that he didn't need and I don't have a clue what I might be able to do with it. So I thought I would just post what all I have and see what you guys think I might be able to do with it.

I got a Dell 1.3Gz pc with a Soundblaster 64V PCI Sound Card.

My cousin gave me 2 mics..both are CAD 22s. A Tascam Porta07 mini studio (4 track). And an Alesis NanoVerb 18 bit digital effects processor. I have no idea how these things work but plan to read the manual to try and figure it out.

Can I plug this stuff into my sound card? And if so, how? I think I may know, but just don't want to blow up my puter!

Thanks for any ideas!

take the main outs of the 4 track and go into the line in of the sound card...plug the mics into the 4 track.....record with the software exactly as you were doing before.....

this is in essence using the 4 tracks as a preamp only which should give you 100 times better than a computer mic into the mic in.....if you were impressed before, just wait......

keep asking questions....have fun...dont give up.....
