Don't worry about the cocky elite. Just concentrate and do your own thing. There's no better way to shut up a elitist than to out do him with tools and methods he thinks are inferior. There are plenty of nice people who use both applications. Seek them out if you need a hand and ignore the ones that need to take jabs at others to make themselves feel better.
