Ok I know I need a 1/4 to 1/8 adapter, but do I use a speaker cable? or insturment cable, or what?

An instrument cable.
Do you realize that the 1/8" jack on the soundcard Line In is almost certainly a stereo jack? What you probably want is a Y-cable with two mono 1/4" plugs on one side and one stereo 1/8" plug on the other.

If you can't get that use a RCA (left and right on one side) and 1/8 stereo on the other side.

You'll need to let us know exactly what type of INS/OUTS you have.
But..... (as previously stated) you'll probably need to pick up an 1/8" stereo male to dual 1/4" mono male cable.
