I'm thinking about adding some PC editing power to my Roland 1880 (and I'm MIDI-IGNORANT), and was wondering what I SHOULD spend on a USB/MIDI interface and what brands are trustworthy. I see them on ebay, and the price range is pretty big. Thanks!

Here's a link to one that I've used with great success --- LINK. Actually I used this one's predecessor, the US-122 (no 'L') but from what I understand there have been no significant changes in this one.

Here are links to two good articles on midi basics - part one and part two.

Do you need an audio interface? If not, it seems a pity to buy an audio interface with 1 x 1 MIDI (1 input, 1 output) when for a lot less you can have a MIDIMAN 2x2 MIDISPORT (2 ins 2 outs)

I've used one for years and had no problems.

I think a basic unit will do the job you want.
