To any newbies asking about which interface to buy (February 2011)
M-Audio Fast Track Pro USB Audio/MIDI Interface 9900-51076-00
That is one of the right interfaces for starting out and is sitting at an incredible price.
Don't know how long this price will last but it seems to me that they've been selling this one cheap for quite some time.
