what are the parameters of compressing a vocal track?

It has a lot of controls. It supposed to be only one knob. This one is just like any other compressor.

Its basically LA2A style but it has other parameters as well. But you can leave all those other parameters alone and just use the main gain knob.

I use the UAD LA2A plug-in, but don't have a UAD card on this comp so I just use that one instead and ignore the other parameters.

I guess you are right though. Does anybody know of a freeware LA2A-style comp? Quality not-withstanding?

An la2a has variable attack and release, depending on the signal you are feeding it. The fact that it has the controls makes the parameters static, so it won't react like an la2a.
