What are the differences between the new Apple iBooks G4 and the PowerBooks G4?

I am going to be getting a new laptop soon, and I really would like to get an Apple for use as a live on stage backing machine. I have Logic Audio Plat. with the EXS24mkII, EVD6, EVB3, and EVP88 software instruments. I love these sounds and want to use them live.

Since Apple jazzed up their iBook serious with G4s and new RAM etc. I am wondering... would I be dissapointed if I got the biggest baddest iBook?

I want the 14.1"
1 gHz
640 MB DDR-SDRAM
60GB Ultra ATA HDD
OS X
w/ an extra battery
Total = $1,778.00 (with my student discount)

Just by looking at the spec's this machine seems like it will do ANYTHING I need it to do live, and then a whole lot more. I will have Logic Audio Plat. 6 loaded and be using a MOTU 828mkII as a Firewire interface.

Is there anything I am overlooking? Would I be just SO MUCH better off by spending the considerably large amount more in getting a PowerBook G4? With a similarly decked out PowerBook my total comes to $2,228.00 That is well over a $400 difference.

And what is with the HDD speed on these iBooks and PowerBooks. I am needing to make use of my EXS24mkII soft-sampler for a fair amount of drum backing tracks. (maybe three to four tracks minimum simultanious play). Plus three or four track of EVB3, EVP88, and EVD6 instruments. Plus a click track going to the drummer (probably will use a MIDI device [Roland JV1010] for that). The iBooks seem to only have 4200 rpm drives, and the PowerBooks can be upgraded to a 5400 rpm drive. But the price is an enormous $200 uprgade. Bringing the price for the PowerBook well out of my range.

What other differences should I pay attention to? I am sure this is becoming a pretty hot question.

I don't think that you'd be disappointed. But keep in mind that the iBook G4's are the "Celerons" of the G4's, with a lower 256kb L2 cache as opposed to the 512kb L2 on the Powerbooks.

Still, I'm sure it'd still be more than enough.
