I want to know what are the best Vst plugins for you...Ive downloaded at least 20 or 30 of them and dumped most of them because they didnt do much so im asking what do you guys use...When you post please say if its a free Vst plugin or not...Im willing to pay for some good ones as well however if there ones that are freeware thats even better.

Here are the ones I use right now

Blood Overdrive

So far these are the only ones Ive liked so far...I definately need some good reverb plugins and everything else as well.

You can also post VST instrument plugins as well...Im looking for a plugin that can make a guitar sound like a bass...not sure if one exists out there or not though.

Also if anyone is using Reaper recording software how do you add VST plugins for that program...I just downloaded it today and just thought I would ask...I was using mixcraft recording software however im going to try reaper and if I like it Im buying it.

Thanks for any replies in adavnce.

Best VST plugins hands down are the UAD plugins - but they are not free.

I should of also mentioned if you can post a link to the plugins that would be great....thanks

Just about anything from Roger Nichols Digital, but especially the Uniqalizer and the Dynamizer. Definitely not free, but then again, nothing of value is ever free. But you can download 14-day demos

SIR is a great convolution plug that will do reverbs and other hardware emulations.

Hadn't tried the Stardust one mentioned in there and wow I'm pretty impressed.

I have a collection of free VST effects, many of them quite good. Glaceverb is good, too bad I rarely use reverb. Classic Compressor and Classic Delay (forgot who made them) are also good. I'm sure once I use 'pro' effects my mind will change, but from what I hear, they are good.

Much better than the shit that Cubase LE came with.

I use SIR, Blockfish, Classic Reverb, and ReaEQ frequently, all free plugs, as well as a variety of paid plugs from Waves, Refined Audiometrics, PSP, Sonic Timeworks and Voxengo. There are a few freebies that are real gems, Blockfish and SIR especially.

I agree with XLR and raise him one or two Antress Modern plugs - again FREEBIES.

For the reaper question, just hit options\preferences\plugins\vst and browse to whatever folder you stick your vst plugins in. Hit rescan or restart reaper and you will see all your plugs

OK. I'll see your Antress Modern set with the slim slow slider C3 multiband, and I'll raise you the same designer's linear phase graphic EQ.

That slim slow slider EQ sounds very good. Not as flexible as a parametric. But very good quality of sound. And I hate EQs. Most of them ruin the sound.

I tried to find those Antress plugs but they don't seem to exist on the internet anymore.

Well, spell it right, buddy.

Hahahaha...

the Mastererizer.
"A Software Mastering Plug-In that Actually Makes Your Mix Sound WORSE!"

[well, 3/4 of them do that already:D] But nice to have a specialty plug for it!

from their site:
"...a whole new error in software plug-ins!"
(Clob Beermountain, Home & Garden Magazine)

Heh.

forgive me. I'm insane. Time to take my medication

I actually would love if they made an AU version of this... It'd be fun to play with it as a creative effect. I did that a bit when I used to use pro tools a lot, was pretty fun.

I hate it when I hear about awesome free plugs . . . go to their site and it's windows only :(
