I tried researching this but couldn't find anything. Why would you want faders to be motorized, and if you have them, what next?
You can also stick toy soldiers to them and use automation to program a dance routine.
Exactly. I can't believe nobody else mentioned this. I think one of the best uses of motorized faders is writing automation. Heck of a lot more fun than using your mouse to do it.I especially like when I'm mixing and I do automated passes.
I'll go thru and ride the faders on bank 1 - 12, riding till I get the db's just the way I want em and save that scene as the automated pass.
Then I'll ride faders 13 - 24 and do the same thing.
So when I'm done my faders just recall all the automated passes and the faders fly.
(then I do it again cuz my mix sucked.)

Sometimes they scare me.. like when I turn off my 002 and hear a fader(s) move 20 minutes later when trying to go to sleep.. Still haven't figured out why it's doing that. lolThey're really good for impressing / scaring non-musical people...

Yes, writing automation with a mouse is a chore and a half. Don't like it? Move a bunch of edit points with the mouse.Writing automation is my least favorite thing to do in mixing. If I had flying faders I would probably enjoy it a lot more. I love it when things move by themselves.![]()
I've never had a problem with their loudness. Is it an issue of annoyance or does it happen while recording?it's annoying though, cos, as useful as writing automation is, the faders on a digi 002/003 are pretty loud, if you write a really quick fade in at the start of a waveform or whatever..
took me faaaar too long to figure out i could program my automation, then just hit the midi mode button so that the faders don't actually move on playback! handy tip!
EDIT: Oh, I searched and found a thread at the DUC where they mentioned the "Fader Mute" button on the control surface... NICE.![]()
I was going to say, normally you don't have automation until after tracking. hah.i don't have the problem when recording, but the i don't usually have any automation until all the tracking is done. i'm usually on a tight time limit.
Oh yeah. I'm sure it will be sometimes.tip tophope it's useful.
