I am having difficulties with trying to figure out how to get all the various components operational. i almost feel like i need a flight checklist as it were before take off...should my system crash the fire exits are two in the front two in the middle and two in the rear! now jump!!!!!!!!!!! i have an alesis multimix 8 usb ...i was using or should i say attempting to use cubase le. i recorded a bass riff finally after flipping compter switches i could hear playback then few more switches then i had monitoring with not much latency. the problem was it just couldn't get other tracks activated and when i tried to select another channel on my mixer...ie in channel 4 of mixer and activating track 4 of cubase le was a no go. so i needed something easier to operate with more easily operated bells and whistles so wanted to try magix complete studio 2005. so the other thing is can anyone help this poor 1990's 24 track analog idiot blast off in 2006? my operating system is a hewlett packard multimedia XT856 Pavillion 900 mhz (512mb max.) pentium 3 installing a soundblaster 24 bit sound card full duplex and a fire wire and usb 2.0 pci card to get full speed running Windows XP Pro. let me know if you can help this old caveman (age 32) understand how to operate all this supercool stuff

Help, I'm having the same problem...

I am having a similar problem. I'm running the alesis multimix 16 (firewire) and Magix 2005 Audio Studio Deluxe. (i also used cubase, via the free cubase limited edition CD provided) when I bought the board.

I'm trying to record separate tracks live, simultaneously thru the Alesis Multimix board, and can't figure out how. I can't figure out how to assign the Magix tracks to the Alesis Multimix mixer, and record several tracks live, with different instruments (and different mixer channel inputs.

(what i mean is trk 1 on magix = channel 1 one alesis mixer)
(track 2 on the magix studio program comes from channel 2 on alesis mixer...)

...but do it all live, trk 1 = channel 1, trk 2 = channel 2, etc. I"m trying to figure out how to do it all live, we use about 16 channels total as a 4 piece band (including vocals, drum mics)

so anyway...

the only thing I've figured out to do is record everything thru the mixer thru the main mix level and record ONLY on 1 magix track (16 mixer channels on 1 track, kinda sucky ya know).

Does anybody know if Magix Audio Studio 2005 is compatable with Alesis Multimix 16 firewire to record stand-alone, individual tracks simultaneously? (guitar on 1, bass on 2, ect....)

Cubase could assign 4 tracks to 4 separate channels simultaneously, played live.

thanks,
Jeremy

good luck guys..........i too use magix music studio 11 deluxe and asked a similar question about a day ago and got no response. Seems like nobody uses magix, but i personally have found it to be very decent. I dont think USB can record to more than 2 tracks simultaneously. Firewire, i believe you can, but i wish somebody out there would know for sure

USB mixers generally will only send a Stereo Mix to your PC and not send Individual Tracks for each Input on the Mixer.....This is the whole reason why I avoided USB Mixers, You would get better results with a Delta 44 and an analogue Mixer.....

I tried Magix Music maker 2005 and foinf it OK for recording 2 Tracks but when it comes to recording more than 2 Tracks at once it didn"t seem to have the ability to do this but maybe the newer version is Different....

Maybe try reaper or audiacy or Krystal which are all Free and might have more functionality but with USB Mixers I believe you are going to be stuck recording stereo mixes as opposed to several Individual Tracks....

Firewire Mixers are the way to go.....

Cheers
