how does the beta 91 compare to the beta 52 for bass drums? i havent seen much about this mic on the forum at all. is there something wrong with it? im guessing because it sits inside your drum.. not many people want to use it..
The Beta 91 is my personal favorite for the Kick.
I didn't care for the Beta52 at all.
And the Beta 91 does not HAVE to sit inside the kick.
If you make a kick drum tunnel in front of the drum, then you can put the 91 in there (set it on top of a piece of foam instead of on the floor). Then move it around inside the tunnel to see where it get's the best natural sound before you EQ or anything like that.
Most people haven't had the luxury of using the 91, other than in a "once in a while" situation, but it rocks as a Kick drum mic.
