they are little cool, colorful guys. very hypey. i dont like them on drum OHs cause they are a bit trebbbbbllllyy.

acoustic guitar they have a good rep for. although, they will give you a very specific sound... as opposed to a sort of "natural" sound. i never used mine for acoustic guitar, but i would use it for all sorts of acoustic things that i wanted to stick out in a mix in that 8k zone.

look for them on the used market, as they dont command much of a price there.

$70 or so.

i say the pro37r is worth a shot to see if the color is something you dig. steve albini, bob weston gave them high marks back in the late 90's when these guys were kings!

I can't even find info on that ADK at the ADK site!

Paj,
8^?

dig 'em

i really like the pro-37r's, use them a lot on acoustic guitar and as drum overheads, i think they sound great and are quite easy to work with (ie throw them up, they sound good!).

Keep an eye out for the AT3527 too, which is a step up.

Sir/Madame:

I recently came across an add for an ADK GS1 microphone but I cannot

find any information about this mic on your website. Could you supply

me with any info about it?

Thank you,

(Paj)

Thanks for asking!

The GS-1 is a discontinued small capsule mic from our Project G series.

It was a wide cardioid and worked well on Guitars and other instruments.

When the SC-1 came out, it was so overwhelmingly preferred, that we stopped building the GS-1 (Generis Small Capsule) because the prices were similar, and because the SC-1 was a sweeter, quieter, and more flattering mic!

Hope that helps! ADK is relentless in the pursuit of better tonality!!!

Sincere regards,

The indication that it is really an excellent mic is the fact that the word "pro" is in it's name.

I have a pair. They're kind-of bright, but I find that when they're paired with an LDC, they work very well on acoustic guitar. I've used them as drum overheads too, and they're OK for that as well. I thought they were terrific paired with an LDC on upright bass (AT on the fingerboard).

thats right. bright.

they sounding really nice when i was recording on my teac 80-8 1/2" tape. to computer, i didnt like them so much. but i bet if you pared them with like, uh, a joe meek vc1 or something like that... they might sound great.

oh OHs they sounded TIZZY to me on COMPUTORR. had to keep the levels low and depend on close mics. me sold them.
