I was at a garage sale yesterday, and I realized someone must have been into recording, because I saw quite a lot of recording equipment. Most of it was junk, but then I saw this Cherrywood Box, and after opening I saw this velvet pouch. Peering inside the pouch I could not believe my eyes. A BLUE Baby Bottle Microphone with Shock Mount and Pop Filter in there as well. I asked the owner of the house how much, and she said she'd give it to me for $15.00 I gladly paid it, and went home very happy!

Wow, that was probably the best deal I have ever gotten on anything.

WOW!

That's great. A couple months ago I got a SM58 for $7 at a garage sale.

The guy knew what it was worth, but he was just really cool I guess.

Please tell me you had this amazing stroke of good fortune in Britain ;)

It's all in working order, and sounds fantastic. Unfortunately, I am located in Illinois...

I wish you hadn't told me that! Now I'll been spending all my time rummaging through garage sales. :p

friend of mine at work found an RCA sk-50 ribbon mic in her attic (her brother bought it at a yard sale for $5 and left it in her house).

strange what turns up at yard sales, but man you have to work the scene for a find. pretty worthwhile if you are unemployed, but i think you would be better off just working overtime or picking up a second job and outright buying those mics.

It's all part of an eloborate hoax to keep his wife from knowing he broke green a GC but I'll play along. Congrats, good kill.

Does that mean you'll be buying the next round of drinks? :D

But that wouldn't be as much fun.

A Garage/Car Boot Sale mic bargain over here would probably be a 58 for £50

Steal, that's right. I would've done it too, and felt guilty- for almost 10 minutes!-Richie

Which is why we officially hate you Americans for having that kind of cool stuff (like the BLUE mic and old RCA mics) turn up in Yard Sales and Junk Shops when it never would here. :D

I don't know. I bet there's a garage sale in Germany somewhere with old vintage Neumanns for 3 bucks.:D

Yeah, but it's never going to happen in the U.K.

Which is kind of closer to me than Germany.

Its could have been a professional recording engineer who put that mic on the bargain table because of the sound. I heard of DBX chucking what would be classic gear into the dumpster because it wasn't what they wanted. The flaws were what made them desirable. I think $15.00 for a cherry box is a fine deal regardless of the mic inside.

sarcastically because Im jealous :)
I'll never throw a mic out...
