Sorry, the idea was lost on me - or is it that it's a wooden mic in a guitar type case? I don't see the frets.

The wooden mic body IS the neat idea. I bet it's a lot nicer to hold than a cold metal one. AND wood is a renewable resource.
And the case looks nice too.
