Has anyone tried the spectral view yet? I used it to remove feedback from a few tracks of a live nightclub recording.
Damn! It worked perfectly. You can't even tell the feedback was ever there. And it didn't mess up the tracks either.
All you do is click any problem track into edit view, click on VIEW, then click SPECTRAL FREQUENCY DISPLAY. Now instead of a waveform you can see horizontal streaks which represent different frequencies in the track. Study this screen for a bit and maybe play the track and you will begin to understand what the different colors mean. In mine, the feedback looked like a long narrow white streak at about mid-height. I could hear it come and go as it played past that white part.
I changed my cursor to the Marquee Selection Tool and proceeded to precisely highlight and cut that feedback right out of there.
Too cool! I'm impressed.
