after searching on websites, if found some wharfedale diamond 8.2 monitors for a cheap price, but it says there "bookshelf" speakers. what does this mean? what is the difference between these and the nomal diamond 8.2s?

Steve

Those aren't the studio monitors - they're regular bookshelf speakers.

The studio version has a different woofer (I think) and is available in active (powered) configuration.
Those bookshelf speakers probably sound almost identical. The only trouble is you need to buy an amplifier to drive them. So it's probably not such a great deal once you factor that into it.

diamond pro 8.2a are the monitors i think

The Wharfies come in a "stereo" home audio/monitor version (unshielded) and a "Pro" (shielded) version.

From what I have read the spec are pretty close but you probably don't want to used the unshielded ones near a PC video monitor and since we are in the Computer forum and these are near field speakers you should probably get the "Pro" line.
