I know this is supposed to be a joyfull time, but I have to ask...

What are people going to use i for? I mean, there are no more recordings sold on reels, and that is obviously not targeted at home recorders like ourselves.

which even seems to feature 1/8" (cassette width) tape, not 1/4". It shows some creativity of thinking, but is more of a nostalgic boombox, than a serious r/r.

The new gear manufacturers may never get back in analog, but there is some potential, someday. There may be a niche for new analog studio gear, and maybe it will make a resurgence, if they revive the right products at the right time. There is some serious analog gear on Ebay, for the serious studio head or audiophile. That's not news. The special runs of 34B's by Tascam is a much more interesting phenomenon, and points to some serious high end possibilities.
