I have a projectmix, m audio Octane pre and pro tools m powered.

im trying to record some drums, got everything miced up on the octane levels seem to be pretty good, selected input as the lightpipe adat and got a mix on the software control panel, however i cant make the signal im getting on the pre record in pro tools. any ideas on how to set it up? im so lost i cant seem to make it work.

How many channels are armed to record? Are their inputs set? Are the inputs all turned on (don't know if you have to do that with Pro tools).

well right now just one channel is armed to record, ive got signal from all 8 inputs on the pre and i made a new track on pro tools for just one to see how it works and thats where im stuck no luck yet and making any of the 8 active channels on the pre register with the projectmix or record in pro tools

How are you going to record 8 channels on to one track?

What input is the one channel set to?

Have you tried reading the manual?????

Why don't you simplify your situation and leave the octane out of it. Run your mics straight into the Project mix, and make sure you've installed its drivers. Then go select them inside PT and assign each input to a different track

...

the pres on the project mix dont work well with drums ive tried them a bunch with and without pads and theyre just not that good, and im not recording the 8 pre channels into one track i just have one new track created trying to figure out how to set that to get any signal from the octane then ill make the other 7

So....you tried recording through the Project Mix on its own and it worked OK?
