Weird MIDI recording problems

Hi!

Just got an Emulator X (with the 1212 card) with bundled Cubasis, and I'm having a bit of a problem.
Whenever I try to record MIDI (from Evolution keyboard in to 1212 MIDI port), I get delay. Like a whole bar behind. Also, extra notes appear, really long long notes too. Tried another controller, same problem.
Tried recording into FruityLoops, no problems.
Tried recording into n-track, no problems.
It also doesn't matter what soft-synth I pick (Emulator X, General sound module, etc), it happens. If I just pick the MIDI out port, it's not as bad, but there is still a little delay.
If I just play through Cubasis, there is no problems. No stuck notes, nothing weird. It's only when I go to record MIDI.

My rig: Athlon XP2500+, 512MB DDR2700, Asus A7N8X-E mobo, WD 120GB, 128MB Nvidia 5200, Windows XP Pro.

(I'll admit, it's not a 'clean' install. I did have an Echo Mia installed up until a week ago. I can format, but I'd rather not).

I want to step up to Cubase SE (mostly cause I miss the drum grid in Cubasis), but if I'm going to have these issues, I may have to look into *shudder*...SONAR.

Any thoughts, suggestions, tips would be appreciated. I've tried tweaking some settings, but nothing seemed to work. I think I made it worse.
Thanks!

Thanks Easto, but that's not it. :( Cubasis has no such folder. Some other good tips, though,on that page.

It's hard to describe...it's not really delayed in recording, the marker is on time, it's just where Cubasis is putting it is wrong. Plus extra notes.
I'm going to try my old Midiman 2x2 USB MIDI interface, see if that changes anything.
