I love the sound of Pat Wilson's drums on Pinkerton. BESIDES the specific Kit & Tuning of the drums what are some factors that can help reach this desired sound/tone.

I'm guessing a big room with perimeter condensor mic's as well as pretty flat EQ job.

Come on guys, let's see your prognosis.

well im no expert, but it seems like the kick is getting clipped/distorted/whatever.......i dunno....like on tired of sex it sounds somewhat distorted. man i am with you i love the drum sound on pinkerton. in fact my band might be covering getchoo or tired of sex. :)

As roomy and large as those drums sound im gonna go out on a limb and say it had A WHOLE lot to do with the Room they were recorded in. As well as a combination of the other things mentioned.

Have you seen Weezer's DVD, "Video Capture Device." They have a segment on the recording of the Pinkerton album. I should watch it again. Also, Pat just loves the drums on Pinkerton and hates all the other albums.

pinkerton is definitely an awesome and totally underrated album

the drums are definitely clipping/distorted

if you're not using tape, you could try running a bit of the signal through an overdrive pedal or something...
