If I am not trying to sell anything, can I post some of the local muscians on my web site doing regular old songs that are probably copyrited?
And If I did want to sell a few cds who would I contact and would they even want to talk to me for pennies? thanks, Obe

I don't know the answer to your first question, but I would check into it before you do it. Don't put it past people in the music industy and just think nobody would come after you. Bloodsuckers even like little drops of blood.

In response to the second part of your question, you would either get in contact with the current publisher of the song(s) in question or the Harry Fox Agency. Usually HFA is the way to go - and even if you don't think you'll make a whole lot of money by selling your discs, it doesn't matter to them - they want ALL of the pennies they are entitled to - they charge by how many units you press, not how many you sell.

Good luck!

Depending on how many units you estimate your business plan will push, I would be willing to get you the clearance for use :D
