That bass sound sucks hard. The playing is half-assed. What the hell was that fade?

I heard no vocals at all so what the hell was the poll about?

It was for the quality of the recording, which, you didnt even mention. I accept negative feedback, but negative feedback for no reason is pretty stupid...

It's not too bad.The tracks actually sound pretty clean and solid on my speakers.The bass tone could stand to be a little less stringy and it could use a little compression to tighten it up.The drums sound pretty good too.The playing is a little sloppy but the tracks are not bad at all.
 
How's it supposed to sound "just like kurt" if it's just bass and drums?
 
My current project (band) I'm working with does this song as well. The tempo is very slow, it also sounds like you're playing it down a half step or so. The recording was clean and sounded ok, get some guitar in there, speed the tempo up and let us listen again.
 
It is a pretty clear recording....

The guitar needs to come up a bit.:p:D

Well if you're 15 that's a great start.

Keep practicing your instruments, I can hear certain hesitations in your playing now and again.

See if you can bring up the tempo somewhat, it sounds slower than the original.

And one last suggestion.. may i suggest picking another cover to start with (unless you're planning on adding this to a live set or something)? Picking one from the master may be a bit too much to try to measure up to at first.
 
"...Picking one from the master??!..." The master at what?! Don't get me wrong, I enjoy listening to a few Nirvana tunes here and there, but Cobain IMHO was not a master at singing, playing the guitar or songwriting.

IMO Kurt is one of the greatest of all time.

I particularly find his songwriting to be superb. If you look at his songs there is nothing particularly intricate going on and yet most of his material is instantly recognizable and instantly catchy. He was Beatle-like in the era of grunge. Huge sing along choruses.

And finally his voice was unbeatable, I mean it's one of the few that can just send chills down my spine. I don't know if the guy gargled broken glass and razor blades or what but..


He didn't play like Yngwie but I think most will agree that's a strength, not a sign of being a weak player. Sometimes less is more ya know?
 
Kurt's songs, some of them, are quite catchy and the "dissonances" are tasteful. I really dig the drums in most of the songs as well. But for me, to master something is to overwhelmingly excel at it. And even though I really respect Nirvana for what it meant/means conceptual-wise it's just MY opinion that they weren't masters... but that might be a subjective thing. And I totally agree in the less is more philosophy... but more a la David Gilmour or Jeff Beck where a few notes can say so much when played with "BALLS" and the know-how.

Well I'd definitely put Gilmour up there with the elite, that's for sure.

I think the drummer and the bass player were talented enough but I'm just referring to Cobain.
 
The way Jake rips you guys I thought it was gonna be really bad...but it wasn't that bad sounding.Yea,the playing is crappy but the recording is better than anything I did at 15.Hell I didn't even play at 15.Drummer needs to work on his dynamics and the mics sound overdriven in parts.The bass sound is cool,but the playing blows and the countoff in the begining is so bad, I can't comment.

Why did you post this?No covers please.The band fights were better and more original than this pile of shit.Start writing your own shit and practice,practice,practice!!!

I think they're using kid gloves on this one anyway. If this is the same group that posted the mp3 of them telling each other off god forbid they're going to need all the positive encouragement they can get.
