I've figured out what my biggest weakness is when I mix: lack of imagination. Really creative mixers come up with original or unusual approaches that yield interesting, successful mixes. But I've also come up with something that's a sort of second-best substitute for imagination: trying stuff out. Sometimes I stumble on something cool. The rest of the time, I just have fun trying stuff out.
