I read this somewhere --"The main inconvenience with the WDM vs ASIO driver is that you can't monitor record with it"

What does this mean?
How does this apply to me if I use sonar?

what ever "it" is wdm and asio can both input monitor...ASIO just can't share drivers and theres no latency slider to increase or decrease latency

I guess they were referring to cant monitor record with ASIO drivers.

What? I'm sure you can "monitor record" with both ASIO and WDM

If you have the latest version of sonar (2.2) it doesn't matter if you use WDM- or ASIO-drivers. They both work fine. I run ASIO-drivers with sonar 2.2 and my Delta 1010lt @2ms latency and it's very stable!

I think what this might be referring to is that (some or all?) ASIO drivers allow you to monitor the input with it first leaving the card, going into the computer then back out. ie. monitoring with almost 0ms latency.

With WDM drivers, the sound will always go through the computer inducing latency on monitoring.

The ASIO Control Panel I have with my Edirol DA-2496 allows me to 'mix' the sound on the card then listen to that as opposed to it first going to the computer, through the program and then back out to the sound card.

Hope this help's explain,

Does this feature

"The ASIO Control Panel I have with my Edirol DA-2496 allows me to 'mix' the sound on the card then listen to that as opposed to it first going to the computer, through the program and then back out to the sound card."

also work the same way the delta 1010's monitor mixer setup?
or is that something different?

I'm not too sure... have you had a look at the ASIO Control Panel for your Delta 1010? There would be other people here that own the same card and can help you....
