Hello everyone at homerecording. this is my first time here, my name´s Fernando and I´m from Argentina, currently recording on my own (some sort of fusion jazz) with a korg synth, and would like to know if everyone here has got the Waveterminal 192m soundcard.

any comment on its sound quality and if there are any demos recorded with it to assess its quality, I´ll appreciate a lot

thanks

Fernando :)

I've had experience with other ESI cards, and I like their drivers and their interface. I remember reading one review that said the stereo crosstalk on the 192M isn't great. Also, the unbalanced connectors on the breakout box are a turn off to me...

Sorry I can't give first hand experience...

thanks guys, as I´m barely starting with this, I always have plenty of questions. what´s STEREO CROSSTALK?
I´ve been told that unbalanced input are important if I have a significant ground cable connection, otherwise I won´t notice the difference.

fer

Stereo crosstalk is what it sounds like...the left signal crosses over a bit into the right and vice versa. Actually, I found a review in SOS (http://www.soundonsound.com/sos/Mar03/articles/esipro.asp) that mentions this. -54dbfs stereo crosstalk is BAD, BTW. :) It also mentions that the noise floor is higher in certain sample rates than other sound cards competing at its price point.

dsp24 mkii

well, I think i´ve changed my mind about it, and now I´m considering DSP24 MKII, the specs and reviews look nice, though some people also recommended Juli@ or a FireWire device.

what do you think?

fer
:)
