I have been searching for some plugin upgrades, sepcificaly eq and compression, and came across the Waves Native Musicians Bundle 2. Has anyone had any experience with any of these plugins. Looks like a great value

Ok I took a look at the UAD stuff and am a little confused. Do I have to have that card? I am running on a laptop, so that is out of the question. Also do you reccomend a certain UAD compressor? Is it going to be worth the money?

Yes you need the card.

I recommend these plugs cheaper then waves and just as good maybe even better...

Teacher,
I am also on a mac so that takes out the vox. The psps, however, look like a great deal. Do you reccomend any one of their plugins to the other. Im really interested in eq's and compressors. Thanks

Are you using PT? cuz they have a VST to RTAS adapter out

for bang for the buck you can't beat the mixpack and stereopack. I also like PSP MasterQ...i used to like the vintage warmer But i seldom use it now, rather a clean hi fi then a mushy 'warm' sound.

Other plugs to check out too

There SV-315 kicks ass so does the eq a lil more pricey though

and these

those eq's are supposedly the best in s/w land haven't tried them though.

For 'money tracks' i'd use either masterQ or SV-512 and the sv-315 as the compressor. PSP Mixpack can handle all the other compression duties. For reverb check out Altiverb. All the MAC guys rave about it.

I've never seen those PSP plugs either, cool. Since your running a labtop, you might want to go with one of the Waves bundles anyway, since you won't have to deal with not having PCI slots like you would with TC PowerCore or UAD-1. Waves has a broad range of dynamics plugs, I think the L3 series is their most recent line-up.

Although on the other hand, I've never used them, and they don't seem to get the most positive feedback on this board...

Waves is much more pricier for a side step in quality. YMMV

So you're saying that Waves is not a noticable step up in quality?

That's why I'm spending my hard earned dollars on a UAD Ultra Pak, once I can scrape 1,200 bucks together.

Everytime I look at that precision limiter I get a tingling sensation that runs up my spine...

compared to the sonalksis SV series and psp masterQ I'd say its a step down infact.... YMMV

*edit almost forgot the Sonic Timeworks Plug

I've always been the type to go against the grain so take it FWIW

some of the waves plugins are quite nice, especialy the Waves Rverb plugin but alot of their plugins are just sorta good... but nothing special

I think waves is a good solid set of tools. Not always the best but solid. The reason they are expensive is because you buy the bundles and not the individual plugins.

I have been very impressed with the Voxengo plugins so far. But i only used them on trial so i cant talk about them too much. But they have alot of control over their characteristic which is what i like about them.

Waves stuff is solid, but honestly need to go down in price. They've rested too long on their laurels with some of their products. The reality is there are TONS of plugins manufacturers out there making some fine plugs.

The UAD Ultra Pak at 1200 bucks definately beats the piss out of Waves Platinum except for reverb. Waves reverb is actually pretty good. Not as good as TC Electronic, but better than the UA 'verbs.

However, UA's compressors and eq's are three times the plug that Waves has.

That being said, the Musician's Bundle II is only 150 bucks and gives you RenEq, which is a good plug.

The Renaissance collection is a smart move for people to get...

Maxxbass is a classic plug if not overused. L2 Limiter is pretty good too. Haven't used the UA Limiter, but Massive Master says it is amazing and that is saying a lot.

If Waves halved their price I would feel you'd be getting a good bargain. That being said, Waves Platinum is still a smart buy if you want a one-stop-shopping for plugs.

IMHO the best DX/VST plugs are TC Electronic and Universal Audio. PSP makes some good plugs.

I wish Focusrite, McDSP and Eventide would port their TDM's to DX/VST standard... :)

Well, I have demoed the PSP's, and the sv-315's and I like them both. I can get the psp mix pack for 150 though, so much better deal. The 315 does sound great though. I still keep going back to the waves. The psps are nice, but the mix pack has 4 plugs 2 of which I dont know if I would use (the bass and trebble stuff), and the waves plugs I feel like I could get more use out of. Has anyone been able to use both of the compressors (psp and waves), and is there really that much of a difference in your opinion? They are both $150 and I am having trouble deciding

thats funny the ones i use mix treble and bass you don't use....

which waves compressor is 150? if its the RCL (renaissance) i'd give that the nod first and if you still need other flavors you can pick up the psp stuff later

For some reason I cant get the Waves Demo to work.

Teacher, what applications do you use the bass trebble plugs?
