Okay so I just got the waves mercury bundle and I loaded it onto my pro tools m-powered...I was just wondering what waves plug ins I could remove from my plug in directory, all I really do is use plug ins on my rap vocals.

Im trying to keep only the waves plug ins I would need on editing rap vocals because I dont want to overload my pro tools cpu usage...Any opinions on which I can remove and which I should keep for my vocals?

Also, since I have the waves plug ins, could I just remove the plug ins that came with pro tools, to free up some space on cpu usage?

Plug-ins won't use any CPU unless they're inserted onto a track or bus. You're good to go :)

okay great, thanks.....do you or anyone have any recommendations on which ones I should use on rap vocals?

You spend eight - thousand - dollars on a plugin bundle and you're asking what has to be the most useless, basic, "day one of school" question on the face of the planet? Just for vocals?!?

Somehow, this sounds like a steaming pile of [SELF-CENSORED]...

(EDIT) With M-Powered?!?

Something is really, really wrong about this...

Dude calm down!!!

1. Its not just my studio, I use it with a "[SELF-CENSORED]" load of people who all use these plug ins for their own purposes!
2. we did NOT spend "$8,000"
3.I "myself" just use the studio for rap music...god damn stop actin like you the police or somethin!

It was a simple question, for what "I" use it for, if you aint tryna help then dont, Im askin people who are willing to help..

<Edit> Oh and Massive, Ive used these forums for quite some time, and Ive always respected your answers for people, but "[SELF-CENSORED]" man, I guess even the people you respect can disappoint you

If you didn't catch what Massive was getting at, it sounds an awful lot like a warez/cracked install of Waves. And if you've spent some time on this board, you know pirated software is looked down upon. If it's legit, say so. I'm sure Massive and others would back off a little. If it's not legit, whether you loaded it or one of the other people that use that studio loaded it, I would just step away. Do whacha want. Just my $.02.

The current score in the "ultra-expensive software allegedly bought by people who don't know the difference between a compresser in a studio and a compresser in an air conditioner" super bowl:

Waves (any bundle) - 44
Nuendo - 28

People only act like the police when someone else first acts like a criminal.

Okay, whatever people...My cousin knows about all this mixing stuff better than I do, that why most of the money for it came from him...He lets me use the studio too since I loan him money for things he needs...I was just trying to learn things without always having to bother him whenever I dont know something... But whatever, thanks anyway I guess...

Well, I don't want to split hairs, but it says *you* loaded it into *your* M-Powered (etc., etc.).

I'm not making accusations, but you can't just "load it" into your system unless you own the hardware that digitally grants the (also have to own) license - unless it's a cracked version (of an $8,000 plugin bundle).

And I apologize for being "rude" about it - I'm just still a little sore after having to get a guy to jump on a jet last year on a Monday morning to fly me a dongle that went bad on me the night before.

"Warez" users cost me around $1k in one day and it would've cost me the client who also flew out that day, and probably would've legally asked me to compensate him for his air fare and hotel for the day).

I know about - who knows - dozens and dozens of people who "have" Mercury. I know exactly *one* that actually owns it. Personally? I don't even like Waves. I sold my Waves license years ago. But I don't exactly want to see them go under. And any company who has the vast majority (I've seen estimates of between 80 and 90% - and I'd be surprised if it was lower than 95%) of their goods stolen, isn't going to stay afloat forever...

Dude its kool, I dont know where my cousin got it from, and I honestly dont care, all I want to do is use the plug ins to make my vocals better and I was just wondering if anyone have any advice on which ones I should use since Im kind of new to this..

OH and sorry for the problems you had...

Personally, I'd suggest deleting them and using freeware plugs (which in many cases are just as good if not better than the Waves stuff). But there are still no shortcuts to any of this - You do what you need to do. if you don't know what to do, you need to learn.

I can certainly tell you one thing - Plugs don't make or break anything. If the recording isn't 95% "there" without any plugs at all, you can throw everything you have at them and it won't help.

And thanks - But it's not just my problem. About every legitimate owner I know has some sort of horror story from all the software security over the last decade. Maybe not to that extent, but to some extent. And you have to understand what it looks like - This is like someone saying "I have a Ferrari that I'm pretty sure is stolen and I don't know how to drive - I don't care that it's stolen, but I want you people on the Ferrari forum who mortgaged your houses for your Ferraris to help me drive my stolen one."

I have been looking through this forum and I see a lot of ppl give the SSL a lot of credit, so I figure it has to be good right? Or will I get the same results with the eq that came with my pro tools?

<EDIT> haha Massive I was just lookin through your profile and I noticed you and I were born on the same day!! haha I dont know seems kinna funny, accept that I was born in 87

No one's gonna help you so move along. Just my 2 cents.

????????????????????????????????????????????????

I will take your two cents and give it to the homeless guy in front of the liquor store:D

Take Myriad´s 2 cents and start saving to buy original plugs! :D

Haha we got a bunch of jokers on here, its great:D;) ...My cousin gets some plugs > I want to learn > I ask > and I receive problems for what my cousin may or may not have done..gotta love it! :D

So if your cousin stole an $8300 car and gave it to you, you'd be happy to ask people how to drive it with the reasoning "he stole it, its not my problem"?

You're not going to get any help here. Try on a warez forum.

OMG FOR REAL PPL??? I dont even know if he stole it, what if he didnt??? God!! yall gettin all mad at me, and all I asked was "which plugins would you recommend," stop repeating what the last guy said!!

OKAY SO IM NOT GONNA GET HELP HERE, I GET IT! Im learning the stuff on my own right now, so stop posting in here, its not gonna change the fact that he's using the plugins...I myself am using the ones that came with M-powered cuz Im finding them easier to learn on at the moment..

YOUR CONFRONTIN ME FOR SOMETHING I DIDNT EVEN DO!
YOU DONT EVEN KNOW IF HE STOLE IT!!
soOoOoOoO... stop ASSuming, it just makes you look like an ASS!

stop posting in here its not going to make a difference on whether or not my cousin has it on his computer, KAY KAY?:D

If he hadn't stolen it, you would be having to be using something called an iLok dongledongle. Also both of you wouldn't be able to use them at the same time.

And if you're having to ask for help with the plugins, the recommendation would be to not use them and teach yourself with simpler ones.

The Reaper plugins collection is free and contains a very usable EQ, compressor, gate and MBC.

The Blockfish compressor is also a very good (and free) VST plugin.

With thousands of very good free plugins out there, why bother with the Waves stuff. I've heard its not very good anyway.

Ookay FINALLY!!! thank you for your help..whatever he is doing is his business, Im using the built in plugins ne way...
