Hey ive been thinking about getting the waves gold bundle for de essers compressors and all that, will i notice much of a difference that the plugins that come with cubase studio 5? like are they that much better?

Get the demos and find out.

It'd be crazy to spend thousands of hard earned dollars on something you haven't tried out first.

All that hard work...........

Waves are pretty decent and the prices have come down radically. Gold is what $500 ish now for 30 plugins

C1, Q10, Hcomp, IR, super tap, L1, Renaissance comp, and the 3 V series plugs are all really usable and sound great

The C1 and L1...I'd pay that much for those two alone lol, I use them sooo much. Well worth the money IMO.

Are you running Cubase 5 64bit?

I'm not sure but I dont think Waves plugs run native 64bit yet,

Anyone know for sure?

i have cubase studio 5, will it work on that??

Only if your running 32bit, meaning your running a Windows 32 bit version and a 32 bit version of Cubase 5. Cubase 5 comes in both 32 and 64bit, it just depends which one you installed.

I just purchased two bundles off ebay from a certified waves store. They have fantastic prices on individual and bundles. And they let you "make an offer". While they didnt accept my first offer, I accepted thier counter offer. Both bundles were a hell of alot cheaper than on Waves site. They have the Gold at the same price as Waves, but I purchased 2 other bundles at 30% off. I dont see why they wouldnt accept $420 offer. Thats 30 % off. If you want the site PM me. Its electronic delivery, you dont get the box. Even at the stores you just get an empty box with a few documents. They send you a key code that you register at waves site and then download the plugs. I dont even think the stroe boxes have the new ilok 2 either. You do have an ilok ? Not the same as the Cubase dongle.

Regard the difference between native and tdm. And will it work on logic 9?

No the Gold bundle is no good - the one to get is Mercury. :)

Native are standard VSTs and TDM are the old Pro tools hardware accelerated versions.
TMD means you use external power to run your VST's saving ridiculous amounts of CPU. Its for Pro Tools HD rigs and they cost a good £10k.

Well, i've come back to eat my words. Doing that a lot lately!

I investigated updating my WUP, and it turns out they've capped the fee at $200, which get's you one years update plan and entitlement to all new version updates.

Plus they give you $200 store credit. so.....

Any suggestions for two single $99 plugins keeping in mind I already have platinum?

I'm set on waves tune as one of them since I have waves tune lt and always wanted the full version.

Thanks.

I don't think I could live without my API 2500. Quite a bit more than $99 tho. :(

Shame. Api plugs aren't listed.

Seems that some of them can't be bought solo. For example, I have L3 ultra and L3 ll ultra, but i wanted the multi.

Apparently, sale of the l3 Multi is exclusive to gold owners only (and maybe another package, can't remember)

It's like that episode of frasier with the platinum door.

Hope I don't end up outside in a towel with green shit on my face.

There are 2 plugins in waves that I can t do without.
The R-desser, because it has a range that tells it the max you want to Deess so that you don t overdo it.
And the R-Bass. Because no other plugins does the same thing. I use it on all my kicks and drums.

Strangely enough, I have them both and never use either.

I think I've got a sort of comfort zone thing going on. Definitely need to learn my tools.

I only found out tonight that I have the linear multiband compressor. That things freaking amazing.
