waveform offset

I just recorded a big band (Swing band): 24 tracks, mic on each instrument. a big room. Recorded it on DA-88's. I dumped the tracks into Cakewalk using a Tascams TDIF card (PCI-822)

Many of the brass tracks are offset. That is the waveform is not centered on the zero line but most of the wave is above the zero line. It sounds ok but I am limited as to how loud I can make the signal (which is really not a problem in this case).

What causes this and is there a cure in Cakewalk/Sonar or with a pluggin?

That sounds like DC Offset... I believe there is a Remove DC Offset function. Hmmm. a quick look at the help system doesn't show that...

perhaps there is a plug-in that will add that functionality to Cakewalk...

If not, do you have Sound Forge or CoolEdit? They definitely have this capability.
