...I've resigned myself to accept the fact that I simply don't know whether a dongle is "good or bad"...obviously, I have no bench-test or any other technical criteria for that matter...I only know when the dongle "appears" to be working properly, when I receive no cpd errors such as--no valid license for this application, and--no valid protection device found...after wiping my hd clean and reinstalling nearly everything (sans any "extra" syncrosoft code such as pos1370, and sans directx8.1, thru 9.0b) the dongle has worked flawlessly...the dongle itself may very well be bad--if it has problems/conflicts with the directx8.1, 9.0a, 9.0b environment...it's still questionable...nevertheless, vst32 is up and blazing away...
...just received sx, but need upgrades--I’m currently waiting on another 256M of 800MHz RDRAM, and my $50. upgrade to xp home from ms…anyone know of an inexpensive source of 800MHz RDRAM?…I’m not finding it widely available locally…....
one last ques: will wavelab 2.03 and vst32 run on xp?
thanks.

Good to hear ToyL

I was hoping my suggestion to wipe the HD didn't screw ya. Like I said, it worked for me. I had told you that, then I thought it sure would suck if he wipes his disk and still has the problem.

...thanks BlindCowboy...good suggestion...I was kind of surprised that it did the trick because I'm pretty sure the culprit was the install of directx 9.0a and 9.0b--which according to ms cannot be removed from the computer...it may very well be that they cannot be "removed", but I certainly can't tell at this point that they're anywhere on my computer--good enough...
