Maybe this question belongs on the Newbies page. Does Gadgetlabs Wave 824 require a mixer, or does it have built-in preamps? I've been waiting for the Aark Direct Pro, but its price has continued to climb to the point where cards with greater capacity are a real option.
Yes you must have an external mic preamp(Mixer). They don't clue you in to this untill you have the manual in your hands. To use the 8 channels of the Wave you must have a mixer with 8 inserts... The Alesis studio 12R is the cheapest I could find at $350.
Sure, I feel that I was a bit misled... other than that, I am happy with my Wave...
