I like my recordings.
Heeey.
I know and understand that wav files has more quality sound then mp3 files because they are not compresed.

If I transform, for save, wav to mp3 and then for work mp3 to wav:

did I lose quality or fidelity?

I think you could use a zipper instead. Like PKZIP... but Ive NEVER EVER tried it.

Yes, you will lose quality. The MP3 file does not store all the information required to get all of your original source file back. This is called "lossy" compression, as some information is lost (litterally "thrown out") in the conversion to MP3. This is a trade-off made for the small file sizes the MP3 encoders produce.

You can use "lossless" compression programs to save space without losing any original information, but these encoders can't come close to the amout of compression in MP3. It's the "no free lunch" catch: you can retain full quality and pay the price in size, or you can create small files and pay the price in quality. The situation usually determines which route to take.

Winrar seems to be pretty good at compressing wav's without any loss. Check it out at:

Their download never works half the time so if you can't get it and want to try it, email me and I'll email it to you.
