Future Astrophysicist
I currently have a 17" CRT flat-screen monitor, but I need more desk space. I will offer $50 + my flat-screen monitor for a flat panel. My monitor has been used for about 6 months and is in perfect working condition. No cosmetic scuffs or operational problems whatsoever. I still have the warranty. If anyone is interested let me know and I will post pics...

I don't want a CRT, but I have a Gateway FPD1730 17" LCD (VGA plug) I need to move.

LCD's commonly come with one of two types of plugs. The vga is a standard 15 pin connector that all of the CRT monitors use. There is also the newer DVi connector that most newer video cards also have.

oh ok... thanks...

mshilarious... would you be willing to trade your LCD for my flat screen CRT and $50? you could then sell my CRT or keep it. Alternatively i could sell mine on ebay and add $50 to whatever it sells for and hope i have enough to buy yours... how much would you be willing to part with yours for?

I don't really want to sell your CRT for you, anyway 2x shipping on a CRT is rather expensive. I'll sell my LCD for $150.

17" CRTs on eBay rarely fetch more than $50 or so, again because shipping is so expensive.

ok well do you think you could hold on to that LCD for me? I am interested but first I need to get rid of my CRT and come up with the rest of the money... I am in dire need for a set of studio monitors so right now they are my priority but once i get them i will work towards getting your LCD if you are still interested... is $150 your final price or can you be a little lenient?

by the way, what condition is the monitor and how long have you had it etc?
thanks.

im not answering for the seller, but $150 for a 17'' is lenient enough i think.

yea but thats why i asked what condition it was etc coz if the color is faded in corners of the screen or anything like that... but your right if it is in perfect condition then its a good price...

Depends on which LCD it is. Fry's regularly has 17" lcds for <200, sometimes no rebates needed. It's just a matter of how picky you are on quality and/or brand. Right now they have a 19" for $249 made by AMC or something like that. I have not heard of that brand, but I saw it and it has a nice picture. And I am picky because I am used to the really nice Viewsonics (I have 2 VA720s and a VX710).

Most of the cheaper LCDs don't have the greatest picture, but it seems a lot of people can't tell the difference. I've had to point it out to some people. Only by comparing it to a nice LCD did they realize the [lesser] quality of the picture.

:D

Well that's pretty much what it's worth. I price stuff here 10% less than I can fetch on eBay.

Condition: it ain't new, I'm the second owner, but it has no bad pixels which is more than I can say for the Viewsonic LCD I'm using right now.

I can't list it on eBay until the second week of October, so you got until around then.

I'm saving up for this bad boy, but I gotta sell my truck first:
