I'm in the process of recording a country album. I am a singer-songwriter and I play drums, rhythm guitar, bass and do all my own vocals. Currently I have a ten-song album with the rhythm tracks laid down for all ten songs and some scratch vocals recorded (I'm saving the final vocal takes for last). I have local musicians coming in to record steel guitar & fiddle, but I'm still looking for someone to record some piano parts for five or six of the songs, and lead guitar on several. The song I really need a flashy lead guitarist on has a "Save a Horse, Ride a Cowboy" type feel. If you are a country lead guitarist, listen to that song. If you can play like that and capture a similar sound, I'd like to know about it.

Anyway, my thoughts were that I could provide some mixes and someone on the other end could do their thing. The going rate for studio work in my area is around $20-$25 per song. I'd be willing to pay via paypal for the services of a high-caliber musician to provide a wav file of their takes.

If anyone is interested shoot me a PM. I'd only like feedback from member who can provide a sample of their playing.

Thanks,

Bones

Would you be kind enough to post a link or somehow let me listen to "Save a Horse, Ride a Cowboy"??????????

I wouldn't consider myself high caliber, but I'd be willing to take a listen and see what I could throw down.

Here's a link to a song I just finished up.

Since 'save a horse' is more rock oriented than country, I can also e-mail you a couple clips I did for rock as well. You wouldn't have to worry about paying me either.
:)

Okay, putting the piano work aside, please following this link:

http://www.backroadbandit.com/solo1

The first track is the solo section I am needing some serious guitar on. This is a 12 bar solo but I only want lead guitar for the first 8 bars. After that I anticipate either fiddle or steel guitar finishing off the solo (time 0:04-0:24 is where I want guitar).

The second is Big and Rich's "Save a Horse, Ride a Cowboy". The guitar solo comes in around 1:53 and is short, but this is what I want. When you listen to the two you'll see (hear) where I'm going.

Again, I will be willing to paypal the "winning guitarist" $20 bucks or so for about 20 seconds of fabulous playing. Just to prove I'm not a scammer, you can give me a crappy 56K example of your solo that I would never be able to use in a recording. If you provide what I want and I intend to use your solo for my album, the $$ is yours upon my receiving the wav file.

Take it away gang! Obviously rock guitarist that dare stoop to the country level (ha) are welcomed to participate.

Thanks,

Bonesy

Bump...

Wow...not a single person is interested? I'm surprised. $20 for 20 seconds of audio...or I'll take free offerings of course from those who are just looking for a fun challenge.

Yep, I'm interested, hopefully I can do some tracking tonite! :)

Ocnor,

Thanks for the effort. You're a skilled player, though that's not the style I'm looking for. Very Van Halen. Not gonna work, but sincerely, thanks for giving it a go.

Van Halen? The riffs that I used were all Southern Rock riffs ala Lynrd Skynrd, Molly Hatchet, 38 Special. The only way that I could dumb down my playing any further would be to play with one hand. ;) Sorry I couldn't help.
Good luck with your album.

Although it wasn't what bonesy was looking for it was a cool solo - loved the smooth progression from picking to tapping....

Ecnor...you were tapping bro! By rule, I automatically get to refer to Van Halen. Seriously, I think that's like a law or something somewhere. I'm gonna go google it right now... :D

Just to clarify I wasn't tapping. What you hear is a right handed hammer on using the side of the pick. It's a variation of an old blues riff ZZ Top used only I played it a bit faster.Tapping is when you use a finger to strike the string in the same way that a piano hammer does. A good example of this is Van Halen's "Dance The Night Away".

Yeah you don't get the same volume as you do from a finger tap.

I was going to submit but my solo was similar to ocnor's, without the tapping though! :p Only joking ocnor!

This tune needs more.......................................................COWBELL!!!!!! YAY COWBELL!!!!!!!
