Has anyone done an a/b on these two audio interfaces?

I have an 1820M, and so far it sounds really good with what little time I've worked with it, but I hate the esoteric patch mixer. I've been a happy WamiRack 24 owner for years, and nothing compares to it's solid drivers and it's intuitive interface. I love directwire, compare that to the mess that is dsp patch mix.

So I want to go with what I know, but what I don't know is if the latest incarnation of the WamiRack is comparable audio quality wise to the 1820m. I'm willing to bet that it is, if not better, but there's so little information on ego-sys products outside of their website.

It's not. My friend is a die-hard wamirack user (also for the drivers, which I agree are great), but it's not better than my 1820 non-M. Cleaner sound, cleaner on the input side of things too (from my synths) The pres on the 1820 are also significantly better (except for the fact that on minimum, it might be too much gain for the very hottest of mics...)

It's a Wamirack 192X. Got it from Sam Ash when they were blowing them out a couple months ago for around 400.

sigh, ok, well I'll learn the patchmix....

I found out that the wamirack 192 series came out in 2002 anyways. Their latest soundcards are of higher quality but aren't as feature rich as Emu's latest.

thanks for the info
