Wall v. Corner Mix Position

All things else being equal in my crappy tracking/mixing room (13'x13'x8'), is there anything better/worse about mixing with monitors parallel (and midpoint between other two walls) to the wall OR with mix position facing the corner? Some books say no difference, some say it's worse, some say it's better since it lessens direct reflections at the mix position. In either case the speakers won't be "in" the corner so bass shouldn't be affected. All further questions I have hinge on this one question. Any thoughts?

same exact issue/question....have you had any luck figuring this out?

More bass buildup in the corners, everything I've ever heard says its far better to put you mix position in the middle of the room. Against a wall in the middle is what most people do, but if you can, pull your mix pos out a few feet so it's more in the middle of the room. The corner is the worst place for a mix position. Being close to walls means reflections will come back stronger. In the corner, there's TWO walls that reflect back to you!

...and all this was also true 11 year ago.

:D

On the other hand, given the combination of how slow computers were in 2001, and how often this site gets hung up...it's possible he typed out his question and hit enter in 2001, and it only got posted yesterday.
