Hey there,

Im building up a studio with a good sized control room and live room and therefore need to get mics between them! Im thinking a wall box is the right way to go? After an inital google i cant find much so was wondering if people have experience of these and which are the best to go for. Thanks a lot, duggan

postedin the wrong forum last time so here it is :)

wallboxes are okay, just stagger them on each side of the wall so they aren't in line with each other. Seperate them between studs for more isolation, and chaulk them if you can. The plastic boxes are easier to chaulk as they have a nice lip.

do you have any pics of these been implemented in a studio or a supplier?

Thank you :-)

I made mine. Thin aluminum folded into a box, same thin aluminum cut and drilled out for a face plate. The face plate just bolts on, and the rest of the box is brazed and ground to form a nice looking box.

what doesn't show is I made a neoprene gasket that fits behind the 1/2" or so lip around the box, and chaulked that to the box and the painted sheet rock. Getting it out is going to be a pain, but hopefully I won't have to do that for years to come.

If you don't want to do anything so fancy, you can buy an ordinary plastic electrical box, zip it into the wall (chaulk it afterwards) with a rotozip type tool, then buy a mating solid faceplate with no holes. Then drill the holes you need to match the jacks that you wish to install.
