Waiting between coats of mud on the drywall in the laundry room. So I remixed this song that featured BrokenH on piano. I posted this last May but I struggled with mixing it back then. Came back to it after 7 months with a fresh perspective. Let me know if this is ok and if anything needs adjusting. Thanks! :D:D:D

Sorry about that - the attachment worked last night but not today. I've reloaded it with a link to One Drive too just in case.

I thought the lead vocal, piano, and the drums sounded very good. Bass too.

I thought the kick was pretty loud.

The guitars sounded a little dull - missing the higher end.

The backing vocals has a little weird "hollow-ish" sound to them.

Something strange with the vocal at about 1:50 on the word "shine." And I'm starting to notice some sort of flanger-like effect on words here and there.

Well performed all around.

Thanks for the listen and feedback TripleM :)

The drum track is a stereo track I got from Jason so I might be able to eq the low end to try and reduce the kick a bit.

Might be the effects on the backups - I'll take the send down on that bus to see if it beefs it up.

I don't hear the anything on the "shine" word - could be the de-esser though. The NTK I used tends to be a little essy....

No explicit flanger on the vocal - if anything it could be coming off the Vintage Plate algorithm.

Thanks - gives me something to work on in between trying to get that infamous "bump" off the drywall seams lol...

Good song. I also found the kick too much for this genre. I'd like to hear the lead vocal stand out a bit more. It doesn't need to be louder, just more air around it.

Thanks Robus - appreciate the listen and comments - will work on kick for sure. I have to fiddle with lead vocal to see if I can open it up a bit more - I think I know what you mean, it needs a little air (which the mic doesn't have in spades)....

The return of the eponymous song.
You know I love this tune Gerry.
The kick is a bit big but you should be able to deal with it.'
The toms might be more of an issue - they stick out now and then.
The piano sounds more at home now.
Lovely song.

Thanks Ray - I have picked up a few "mixing tricks" in the past year and applied them to this one. I'm still an amateur but progressing slowly. The biggest struggle was the balance between the piano and the vocals, but I think I've figured out that part now. Toms may be tough to tame on a stereo track - any suggestions? I'm aiming for eq on the kick but toms?

The big thing that sticks out to me is the vocal. There seems to be some weird, distorting effect throughout. It's especially prominent on the held notes.

Everything else seems to fit together pretty well to me tho.

Thanks Steve - the Rode NTK is the vocal mic on this one. I've retired it in favor of my Sputnik, which while modestly priced, gives a much cleaner/clearer tone and mixes with little to no effort. I may re-record them someday but for now I'm just working on the mixing side of things. (Lazy lol)....
