Hi Folks,
I've followed the suggestions made and, with the exception of pulling out the efects on the guitar, they were quite successful. there is very minimal percussion on this ine - anything else needed?
Please, let me know what next to do.

Tim - Thankyou, I think the 3kh was spot on. I couldn't pull the effect without emasculating the guitar.
Dogman - Ta! Does the bass sound OK now?
Ido - Thanks for the detail, I hope thois passes inspection.

This new mix has incorporated all the changes and sounds quite a bit better.

The panning of the wah wah is a cool new effect as well.

This will make a good bed track for Terry's vocals. It will probably need an eq tweak or two when you add vocals but so far so good....

I checked out your newest web site - cool set up - that's a good photo of you and your guitar.....

Looking forward more listens as this grows.....

:) :D :) :D

To me, the bass seems a bit hidden by the bottom end of the drums...seems the kick is using some of the bass space.....I hear teh bass, but I have to listen for it. Try and seperate them somewhat..with some eq, compresion, or what have you. I think the levels are closer, so now you need to define each instrument. This could be a bit tricky, so as not to make a thin mix. Compress the drums and bass, and see what happens. Then mess with some eq on each.

Rhythm sounds like a song I heard called "Fusions".

Guitar tone sounds good, maybe bring it up a little in the mix?

The wah panning effect was pretty cool. I agree about the bass guitar being too low in the mix and drowned out by the drums.

Maybe it's just me but I feel the overall mix is lacking some higher-frequencies, sounds kind of dark/dull to me, just like a little something is missing. Maybe add a little more treble to the rhythm guitar? Just a suggestion.

Catchy tune, I like it.

solo.guitar,
I've left a little sparkel out of this part of the mix so that I don't push too far along & make it difficult to embed a vocal & possible flute or sax solo. I am conscious of the need & hope that the added elements will provide some plus a little sparkel of fairy dust over the finished product. How're the changes for you?
Dogman,
Thanks mate - as a bassist I need encouragement to bring my instrument forward. I've changed the dum EQ & comprssion as well as tweaking the bass compression . Does it work better for you?
ido1957,
Ta! I thought the panning might be a little dicky but it's the type of crudity I always enjoyed as a teen.
The new web page is courtesy of the national Youth radio network. It runs a process called "unearthed" each year searching for unsigned performers to record. Nice bit of nurturing. & they do the web site too. It has heaps of tips for making recordings, MP3 compression etc. It's a left over of a the GREAT federal government we lost in 1975. The snap is a decade old - but is the only one of me head & guitar in one place.
Does the tweaking suit your ear?
