VU meter problems

3 out of 6 vu meters on my Tascam M-312B have the same thing going on...
I tested them all just by plugging in my CD player into 2 channels at a time with all the settings being equal on each channel. While on one channel the needle is going into the red, on another it is barely moving, but the clip light is going off on both channels.
Is there a possibility that the meters could be easily fixed? Or should they just be replaced?

I work with analog meters at my job, sometimes they can be calibrated but if some of them are in the going full scale and then others are barely moving it sounds like some need replacement.

A slamming meter is underdamped and limited movement is overdamped.

Thanks for the answers. Think I'll just replace them.
Sorry for the stupid, simple question (and I might of even posted it in the wrong place), but I really couldn't find much info about this topic.

Are the settings all the same, ie trim pot as well? I have to admit sometimes I forget about that little knob and am surprised by wrong levels. Also, do you have the service manual? THere is probably a calibration procedure for the meters in the SM, to calibrate to a given value of 0VU. You might try swapping the meters around in the board (if that is easy enough with jumpers) to see if it is the meter circuit or meter that is bad.
