Hey guys,

after my recent recording/mixing experimentations I decided to get some new (not free) VST effects. Can you please recommend some good brands with a good sound quality/price ratio? Also, my budget is rather tight, so Waves isn't really an option for me... (I know quality costs money, but I'm not really looking to top the charts with my recordings right now... :) ).

Thanks a lot :).

There are some really good free ones out there. Check out www.kvraudio.com.

I'm pretty sure that there's a thread around here that has a list of good ones. Do a search for Free VST or something like that.

I've already got various free tube preamp modelers (TAL, Crow,Voxengo's free effects...) and compressors and other stuff, it's just I'm not really satisfied with them - which is the reason I'm looking for some not too expensive expensive, but better sounding plugins.
Btw, I just found the Audiffex Gallien Bass amp simulation for $69 - I love the sound, it feels like playing a real Gallien Krueger rack and costs a fragment of it... Now I'm looking for something similar in the compressor, tube preamp, eq category.

You buy a tool to solve a problem, not just to have a bunch laying around.

Figure out what you want to do and then buy/find plugs to solve that problem.

Otherwise you're just wasting time and money.

I personally wouldn't recommend any STD's.

Oh wait........................you said VST's. My bad. ;)
