Hey everyone...Ok, just a quickie...recording a VST instrument (triggered by my midi keyboard) isn't a problem, the latency is bearly noticable, BUT, on playback it's delayed a considerable amount and I have to realign the track (pain in the arse realy)....I don't have this problem with audio tracks...Is this normal? and is there a way of stopping it or do I just have to keep realigning.....Cheers!

Hi Memriloc,

Maybe if you post your setup, someone will be
able to help.

Mike

Hi memriloc

like man@work said, describe your setup. Cubase SX or 5? or...?
are your midi IN and OUT are the good ones? I mean, did you select the appropriate ones, or they are like "Creatuve SB Live (default)" instead of your right soundcard?

Ok...Cool....

P4
2.4GHz
2 x 60 gig 7200rpm hard drives
ST Audio C-Port soundcard setup
Cubase VST/32 V.5
The sound card setup in Cubase is for the C-Port (or DSP 2000, what ever it's called...)...

Hope this helps, anything else I should list?...Cheers!

Midi delay/timing problems in Cubase have been well documented
on the cubase.net forums. You could use the search feature for vst midi timing and read some of the posts and try some of the things they suggest.

When I was using VST on my WinME machine, I had the
same problem. It turned out to be my soundcard was
sharing an Irq with another device in my system. Your
problem may be something else entirely and until you
can narrow it down, you should do some of the basics
such as update you soundcard's drivers and make sure
you are using the latest supported version of Cubase VST.

I assume that you are using WinXP on your P4? There have
been midi delay/timing issues related to what mode (ACPI or Standard) that you are running. Be aware of the issues related
to making a change from one to the other.

Hope this helps!....good luck!

Thanks....To narrow it down abit further then, I update the drivers frot the sound card as often as possable and I know the card's not sharing an IRQ and yep, I'm using WinXP....I'll try that site and see if I can find anything out....Any other sugestions for things to try anyone?
