Hi guys,

I am using cubase 5 atm and when I load a VST to midi track the presets keeps on going back to the default one when the track repeats or when I stop then play the track.

Example I pick up Halion for my midi track. Lets say clean guitar is the default preset (first preset to run when you load Halion) If I choose Bass preset for eg it goes back to clean guitar.

Any idea how to fix this?

Because there is a program change that was recorded to the midi track.

can you please elaborate more? I am still new to cubase. Is there a certain way to try different presets and then save one which I want to use? Can I change it later?

Hi Moebek

This has nothing to do with cubase but with the midi file you use.
The maker of this midi file wanted to use a standard Midi instrument and put a controller in the track, to make it happen.

Go To midi/open List editor

In the beginning of the list editor you can see the programma changes.

It might not be in the track you used, because often there is a small midi track which only has some controllers.

If you are not sure which one is the right controller, just mute it, by clicking on the little bar behind it.

If it does not happen anymore you muted the correct one.

On my site you find a complete beginners course for Cubase.

Cheers

Wim, I was under the impression that Halion didn't respond to program changes.

It does unfortunately.

Here is a better idea of what you need to do:

Double click the midi track region (or whatever cubase calls blocks of audio and midi data in the arrangement window).

Click the down arrow you see here:

This menu pops up:

Select program change:

Scroll back to the beginning of the midi track and erase the program change.
