VST Plugins for computers main output

Hey, everyone.


I have a question to see if something is possible, and if so, how can I accomplish it. In my life audio setups, I always used to have BBE sonic maximizers in my racks. I love what they do to the music. I was wondering if it's possible to use a VST plugin with my computers main output? For instance, I'm I'm listening to my music in iTunes or Windows Media, or even online, am I able to channel everything through the VSTplugin from a VST Host or some other program, and then back through the computers main output?
