Hey Guys, Just thought I'd drop by and see if any of you know if Roland is going to continue to make the VSR-880 (rackmount version of VS-880. I got mine for $499 new and that sounds pretty cheap for what it is. If they're being discontinued I'll pick up another one (or two.) With the FX card in it I can do a lot of stuff and get some great sounds. Any one know anything about this? Thanks for the help.

P.S. Any suggestions on the best monitors for say $600 or less, either powered or $600 including an amp?

Jason

It is my understanding that the reason the price of the VSR880 dropped so hard is that Roland discontinued it.I got mine in January for 599,a week before I bought it the store had 1299 on it.There are still a bunch around if you look.I agree it's a neat little machine, the 8 ins/outs make it usable with any mixer.

What's the record time capacity?

Also can you punch in and out?

Zzounds has them for $429.00, free shipping.

Is it a good machine?

hey jason,
i just saw the same deal at zzounds so came here right away
to get the scoop.
i've got pretty much the same questions as gt's got and also,
howz the saturation and detail vs. 1/2" tape?
i'm thinkin about ordering one today.

grateful every day,
mo

Mine came with a 3.1 gig HD,which gives about 480 track minutes in VSR mode.Yes you can punch in,both manually and automatically. It's essentially the same machine as Roland's VS880EX/890,minus the faders.
